Global IOT Node and Gateway Market Synopsis

IoT Node and Gateway Market Size Was Valued at USD 465.61 Billion in 2024, and is Projected to Reach USD 955.35 Billion by 2032, Growing at a CAGR of 9.4 % From 2025-2032.

The Internet of Things is a new emerging trend in smart devices which are largely associated with the daily tasks of a huge population around the world. Such devices are generally cloud-based controllers and intelligent sensors. Cloud connectivity allows IoT devices to run seamlessly with quick and secure data transfer and storage.

An IoT Gateway is a connection point between cloud and intelligent gadgets, sensors, and controllers which can be in a physical unit or software program. An IoT gateway consists dedicated hardware appliance or software program which allows all data moving between IoT devices and cloud runs through an IoT gateway which can be stated as an intelligent controlling gateway.

IoT gateway work as a network router between IoT devices and the cloud. One of the main features of IoT gateway is to handle both inbound and outbound traffic from IoT devices to the cloud. Most of the gateway only sent traffic in one direction. Inbound traffic is used for device management and optimizing tasks whereas outbound data is used for sending data to the cloud from IoT devices. IoT gateway also processes the data before sending it to the cloud which summarizes and aggregates data to reduce the volume before sending it to the cloud which created better response time as well as network transmission cost.

The devices used in the data transmission process in the IoT are called nodes. Devices that are providing sensor data or devices that are generally controlled through the cloud can be referred to as nodes. Temperature-controlled sensors, door locks, security sensors, and other low-energy Bluetooth sensors are among the IoT node devices. The current trend of massive adoption of network-connected devices has pushed the market of smart gadgets and IoT devices which have reflected sharply on IoT nodes and gateway markets globally.

Global IOT Node and Gateway Market Trend Analysis

Emergence of 5G technology

The Internet penetration rate has increased to a great extent in the past 10–15 years, in developed regions such as North America and Europe. The upcoming launch of the fifth generation of cellular mobile communications or 5G is likely to reflect positively on the IoT market. This is primarily due to the fact that 5G networks will go a long way towards improving the performance and reliability of these connected devices. 5G will address the need for a faster network with higher capacity that can serve connectivity needs. The 5G spectrum expands the frequencies on which digital cellular technologies will transfer data. This wider spectrum available for use increases the overall bandwidth of cellular networks, allowing additional devices to connect.

The commercial success of any IoT is ultimately tied to its performance, which is dependent on how quickly it can communicate with other IoT devices, smartphones and tablets, and software in the form of its app or website, and more. With 5G, data transfer speeds will increase significantly. 5G will be 10 times faster than current LTE networks. This increase in speed will allow IoT devices to communicate and share data faster than ever. 5G is the foundation for realizing the full potential of IoT. The industry is working to develop new global standards and pre 5G products to benefit industries everywhere.

One of the pivotal drivers behind the surge in IoT nodes and gateways is the inherent capacity of 5G to handle an unprecedented volume of data transmission. This capability is crucial in accommodating the massive influx of data generated by IoT devices. With 5G’s ability to process and transfer vast amounts of data seamlessly and swiftly, IoT devices can operate more efficiently, enabling real-time data processing and decision-making, which is essential in numerous sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and smart cities.
